Summer Slide Project

The foundation is committed to helping students gain higher literacy levels and grow their love of reading. The phenomena known as "Summer Slide" occurs when students go to summer break and have little or no access to reading material. This puts those students at risk to be behind when they start school again in the fall. During the summer of 2017, the foundation participated in two activities to assist students gain access to reading material over the summer.
Glynn County Book Houses
In partnership with Glynn County Family Connections, UDA Star Foundation built 6 Book Houses and donated over 250 books to be used in the 60 Book Houses that were installed in the Glynn County parks and neighborhoods. The goal is to make it easier for children to have books closer to were they live and play. They can take a book from the Book House, read it at home and then return it to the Book House and get another one. Story in the Brunswick news about this initiative, CLICK HERE
