About UDA Star Foundation

We believe that children become better students if they have tools that help them focus on their school work. In 2014, we decided to provide desks and chairs for students to use in their homes, instead of working at the kitchen table or in front of the TV. This became the "Desk of My Own" Project.
Our Mt. Readmore project is based on our personal experience with Kindles. When the Kindle was first introduced, we bought one to make it easier to travel and read books on an airplane. We both use kindles everyday to read. So, we decided to provide Kindles to the local schools media centers in the hope that the students would use them to read more books.
An exciting project (OSMO) is showing great promise and impact in the students that are using this creative and intuitive tool that utilizes an iPad.
In 2017, the foundation launched an extension of the Mt. Readmore program to provide books to students to combat "Summer Slide". Over 2000 new books will be donated to 400+ first graders in Glynn County so they have reading material during the summer break. The foundation also built 6 Lending Library Book Houses that will be installed in public parks in Brunswick in June 2017. The intent of the Lending Libraries is to provide children access to books closer to their homes.
The primary premise is to awaken the great student in all of us.
